My previous post regarding the Ring Doorbell highlighted some of the issues we ran into during testing. Ring ultimately sent a replacement unit, and after installation and setup, it behaved the same way, same problems, nothing was improved.
The basic problems are motion detection is not as configurable as the app would have you believe. It’s either hypersensitive, or insensitive.
Response time,..button press to app alert…is so slow that nobody but our very patient mailman will wait for your response.
Recording start is very slow, motion triggered recordings miss the object/person that triggered them.
All in all, we’ve decided not to offer the Ring to our clients. Other units and solutions are being tested now, some are quite promising. Check back for updates!
